That's a good read. Success will always be personal and subjective and yours to define.

And I guess in our pursuit of success, we should not forget the process. It's through the process that we're truly living. Where we come alive. That itself is success, to me at least.

Thanks for sharing, Mr Successful Oliver! ;)

What a vulnerable share, Oliver.

Thank you for opening up the complex relationships that often are father/son.

What an incredible journey you've walked to reach this elevated point of knowing that your father's opinions stay with him.

Once we realize that we don't define ourselves by others' opinions of us, we begin our path to FREEDOM.

And you are clearly on your way. 👊✨🙏

This hit deeply. The way you unpacked that moment with your dad, so raw, well written, made me reflect on how often we inherit definitions of success without questioning who they really serve.

thank you for spending time here Bryan. im pleased that it gave you the opportunity to reflect, i think with the hustle culture epidemic turning everyone into scaling-obsessed zombies, its more important than ever for those courageous enough to share what it means to be human.

its lovely to hear your feedback on my writing, i appreciate the kind words of support my friend. happy to be able to share. i must make time to explore your work, i believe we have similar missions!

glad that i was able to bring words to a feeling. i think being able to describe something, with words, allows it to be released, its quite cathartic. there is a quiet power in writing.

thank you for taking the time to read this piece Liam.

There is power in the ability to translate your thoughts into words. Like anything, takes practice.

Love this! It’s in the climb we are successful, not in reaching any particular destination along the way. What a great and freeing definition of the word “success”. I’m so happy for you that you were able to see the truth in that scenario with your Dad, to continue climbing rather than stopping amidst the hurt and proclaiming some sort of illusion of defeat. YOU ARE SUCCESSFUL!

thank you for spending time with my work Amanda. glad it moved you in this way, and it feels lovely - having shared this part of me - being met with your support. 🙏

yeah, the realisation that it was never about my Dad and always about me was huge. hence why this post now exists - which is a success in itself!

and also, i think i was unconsciously holding on to that belief thinking it was a driver, another form of motivation. yet, upon releasing it, my motivation is better than before, and no longer stems from a place of pain, but a place of power.

alchemy. integration. life.

Do not take it to heart. Your world is meant to be observed with your lens and only your lens: LOVE THIS.
